Our Works
Explore how Earth Development Foundation (EDF) drives impactful community transformations through targeted environmental, health, and social programs.
Environment Protection and Disaster Management
EDF is committed to mitigating the impact of environmental degradation and climate change by promoting sustainable environmental practices. This includes climate change mitigation efforts through advocacy, community engagement, and partnerships aimed at improving air quality and reducing pollution sources.
Food and Livelihood Security
By enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and improving access to markets, EDF ensures food security and supports livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations, particularly in rural areas.
Tobacco Control Program
Earth Development Foundation (EDF) implements a strong Tobacco Control Programme as a key public health priority to protect communities, especially children and youth, from the harmful effects of tobacco and emerging nicotine products. Through policy advocacy, legal action, community mobilization, and awareness campaigns, EDF works to ensure effective enforcement of the Tobacco Control Act, 2005, challenges the illegal promotion and sale of tobacco and nicotine products in public spaces and educational institutions, and collaborates with civil society and government stakeholders to prevent addiction, reduce health risks, and create a tobacco-free environment in Bangladesh. EDF continuously holds meetings and advocacy sessions with youth, students, and civil society partners to sustain this campaign.
Lead Pollution Prevention
EDF is a vital partner in the national level alliance against lead pollution, working closely with Pure Earth Bangladesh. This includes co-organizing World Environment Day 2026 youth awareness rallies in Khulna and Rajshahi, and implementing nationwide community consultation workshops, mobilizing university students to design lead detection, mapping, and prevention solutions as a part of International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) 2026. EDF continuously holds meetings and advocacy sessions with youth, civil society, and government stakeholders on lead pollution prevention.
Waste and Plastic Pollution Management
With support from the Global Green grants Fund UK/Europe, EDF works on waste and plastic pollution issues, including the impacts of proposed waste-to-energy incineration projects on public health, the environment, and the livelihoods of informal waste pickers. EDF has co-organized grassroots, multi-stakeholder consultations with waste pickers alongside GramBangla Unnayan Committee, and the Bangladesh Waste Pickers Union, to document community concerns and inform advocacy on sustainable waste management.
Gender Issues
EDF promotes gender equality and empowerment of women and marginalized groups by ensuring their active participation in development initiatives. Gender-sensitive policies and programs are implemented across all its projects to address inequalities and enhance social inclusion. This includes university-based gender awareness and gender-climate justice training, which EDF plans to expand to additional universities following its pilot phase.
Human and Institutional Development
EDF works to strengthen human capital and build institutional capacity across sectors, empowering communities through education, skill development, and leadership training to foster sustainable growth.
